Following last week I was still working on the digital marketing course outline. My objective was to gather as much information about what new concepts are being implemented. So I started this week focusing mainly on digital marketing and the whole idea behind how it works.
So… Monday was a pretty clustered morning for me, as I was having a hard time figuring out where to start but I started with trying to understand all the terminologies they used. During the evening, I had a meeting with Carl, we went through all the essentials of how digital marketing works.
Just having to hear from a person who has so many years of experience was very insightful. By the end, I was starting to understand applications such as spiders, bots, cookies and UX design and how they have so much to do building a strong online presence.
I found this eBook very informative and recommend that people who are new to digital marketing should have a read through.
This week I have also been working on an article on Digital Marketing terminologies; doing this has helped me understand the concepts better.
For me digital marketing is how you connect with current and potential customers and sell yourself or your product on an online platform through digital channels such as social media, Google, emails and websites.
Of course, there are many other factors that determine your presence online, but being good at digital marketing is a lot more than being the most popular on social media. It is also about generating leads that turn into paying customers by creating great brands that people trust and feel and have a deep connection towards.
People are spending more and more time online, and I believe that the way people shop or purchase is changing and will continue to change. This trend is also indicating that online marketing does work and is starting to become more popular than traditional marketing.
Marketing is about how well you can connect with your audience in the right place, at the right time, in the right way, and the best place to find them, where they actually spend most of their time, is on the internet.
I also got to spend some time with our Graphic designer this week on a presentations she has been working on (Photoshop Etiquette, Preparing for print and Future of Photoshop), how to work with other designer and printing companies.
